Improving the lives of America’s veterans and their families through creative art programs

Who We Are

Alex’s Heart is 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization that focuses on helping Veterans and their families. Through our art sessions and jewelry design sessions we are empowering and connecting Veterans to future possibilities. We are located in Houston, TX.

At Alex’s Heart, we share a passion for improving the quality of life of our military members and their families. The founders Dariya Dobreva and her partners Ksenia Dobreva and Kim Majestic are coming from military families themselves. They are compassionate and truly enjoy working with military and law enforcement Veterans.

Dariya, Kseniya and Kim guarantee to be personally involved with the art therapy Alex’s Heart offers and to be available to help any Veteran.

Our Mission

Alex’s Heart mission is to enrich the lives of America’s Veterans and their families through creative art programs. We focus on creating frequent opportunities to connect with Veterans through art to improve their physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

Alex's Heart Still Beats

Alexander was the most loving and adorable boy on the planet. He suffered from DMD (Duchene Muscular Dystrophy) but this didn’t stop him to explore and learn about art, sport and music. He could spend hours virtually exploring the world. He enjoyed visiting virtual museums online, listening to classical music and playing his favorite sport - soccer.

After his passing me, my sister Kseniya and our partner Kim decided that his enjoyment of art can be helpful to others. He found the relaxation in art that we all look for and we wanted others to be able to share that blissful feeling he had. That is why we created the Art program. We decided to work with Veterans for a few reasons. Our own family is Air Force Veterans. The United States have the largest Veterans population and we wanted to give back to the community. Alex’s Heart still beats with every Veteran we help.

Through creating art and reflecting on the art products and processes, people can increase awareness of self and others; cope with symptoms, stress and traumatic experiences; enhance cognitive abilities; and enjoy the life-affirming pleasures of making art.
