Alex’s Heart participated in Sheila Jackson Lee’s 23rd Annual “Toys for Kids 2017”

Alex’s Heart represented by founder Dariya Dobreva supported disaster relief organization Team Rubicon in the Sheila Jackson Lee’s 23rd Annual “Toys for Kids 2017” event organized by Daniel Espinoza of Mrs. Jackson Lee’s office. Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee is the US Representative for Texas’s 18th congressional district.

On December 16, 2017, Alex’s Heart supported our friends at Team Rubicon by helping them spread joy to families in need. We had fun not only because of what we did but also because we did what we love.

Dariya shares:

“That day started very exciting for me. Coming in on Saturday morning was a bit of a challenge but I made it to the site. On arrival I noticed the big line of people in front of the building’s entrance. There where parents with kids waiting for presents. Some parents stay close to their kids, while others let the kids be kids and play ball or anything else they like. The atmosphere was very cheerful, full of joy and celebration. Being there for first time, I didn’t know what I was to do so naturally I called Jose Ramirez, the coordinator for Team Rubicon. He was very kind and helped me in and get started. He introduced me to all the people I didn’t know. Together we helped decorate the main table and prepare the set up so every military family can come and get a toy.”

The event opened doors around 10 am and people started coming in. There were cheerleaders, fire trucks, Santa Claus… - to summarize - everything to make that day special. The event was an amazing experience not only for the kids but for Dariya as well. The joy and happiness brought everyone together and made it even greater. Dariya’s responsibility was to help Team Rubicon members and other volunteers safe and help everyone have a good time and get toys. Time flew quickly and it was soon time to wrap up and help pack up everything.

In the end of the day the count was in: together, we provided toys for 121 military families.

Alex’s Heart is very proud to be part of Sheila Jackson Lee’s 23rd Annual “Toys for Kids 2017” event and give a hand to our friends at Team Rubicon.
